Submitting Your Project!

0

You have reached the final stage of this incredible ICT Club journey: Submitting Your Project!

All the hard work – the brainstorming, research, coding, prototyping, planning, filming – culminates in this moment. You have created something amazing, and now it’s time to share it with the world through the official submission. Let’s walk through the final steps together.

Lesson Topic: Submitting your Project

Section 1: Before You Click Submit (Final Checks)

You’re almost there! Before you log in to the platform, do these quick final checks:

  1. Review the Judging Rubric: Take one last look at the official Technovation judging rubric. Does your submitted work (Business Plan, Videos, Learning Journey) clearly address the criteria the judges will use? This helps ensure you haven’t missed anything crucial.
  2. Gather ALL Your Final Files & Links: Have everything ready in one place:
    • [ ] Learning Journey: Final text (max 200 words) and your selected 2-6 images.
    • [ ] Pitch Video Link: The YouTube or Vimeo link (set to Unlisted or Public).
    • [ ] Technical Video Link: The YouTube or Vimeo link (set to Unlisted or Public).
    • [ ] Source Code:
      • If App Inventor: Your final .aia file (download via Projects -> Export selected project (.aia) to my computer). NOT the .apk file!
      • If Thunkable: The project page URL (the share link for your project).
      • If Other (Python/Web): A .zip file containing all your code files.
    • [ ] Business Plan: Your final document (5-10 pages, English) saved as a .pdf (usually best), .doc, or .docx.
    • [ ] Team Photo: A nice photo of your team (or your app logo if you prefer).

Section 2: The Submission Process (Step-by-Step on the Platform)

Carefully follow these steps on the ICT Club Platform website:

  1. Log In: Go to the platform and log in using your team account credentials.
  2. Navigate: Find the project submission section or dashboard.
  3. Honor Code: Read the ICT Club Honor Code carefully. This is about academic integrity and honesty. You’ll need to agree to it.
  4. Team Photo/Logo: Upload your team picture or logo. Consider quickly checking and updating your Team Profile information as well!
  5. Fill Each Submission Section: You will likely see sections corresponding to the main submission components. Fill them out accurately:
    • Ideation Section: Enter your official App Name. Paste in your Project Description. Paste your final Learning Journey text (check word count!). Upload your 2-6 Learning Journey images. Answer any other required questions in this section.
    • Pitch Section: Carefully paste the correct, working share links for your Pitch Video and Technical Video from YouTube or Vimeo. Double-check they are set to Unlisted or Public.
    • Technical Elements Section: Select your Development Platform (App Inventor, Thunkable, Other). Upload the correct Source Code file (.aia, URL, or .zip).
    • Entrepreneurship Section: Upload your final Business Plan file (.pdf, .doc, or .docx).
  6. Review Everything: Before clicking the final submit button, go back through every field and upload on the platform. Are all files the correct ones? Are the video links working perfectly (test them yourself!)? Is all text pasted correctly?
  7. Click “Review and Submit” (or similar): This likely takes you to a final confirmation page summarizing your submission. Review it one last time!
  8. FINAL CLICK: “Submit Now” (or similar): When you are 100% sure everything is correct and complete, click the final submission button. You should see a confirmation message or screen saying “Your project has been successfully submitted.”

Deadline & Edits & Advice:

  • Know the official submission deadline! Don’t miss it!
  • Usually, you can edit your submission after submitting, right up until the deadline closes. Check the platform rules for this year.
  • SUBMIT EARLY! Don’t wait until the last hour or even the last day. Internet connections in Jinja can be unpredictable, and online platforms can get slow near deadlines. Upload components as they are finalized if the platform allows. Submitting early reduces stress!

Section 3: YAY! YOU DID IT! MWAKOZE NNYO!

You clicked submit! Take a huge breath and feel incredibly proud. Completing a ICT Club project is a massive achievement. You have learned so much, worked so hard, overcome challenges, and created something meaningful. Regardless of the competition results, what you have accomplished is truly remarkable. Well done indeed!

Section 4: What’s Next? (Activity 1 – Post-Submission Planning)

Your Technovation journey doesn’t have to end here! Think about the future:

Your Mission: Discuss and make a simple plan for what comes after the competition.

  • Continue Learning: What new technology or skill are you excited to learn next? (Maybe try Python? Explore web development? Dive deeper into AI?)
  • Share Your Knowledge: How can you help other girls in your school or community in Jinja get interested in technology? Could you help mentor a junior team next year? Run a small coding workshop? Share your experience?
  • Your Project’s Future: Do you want to continue working on your app idea? How might you do that?
  • Say Thank You: Remember to sincerely thank everyone who supported you – your mentors, teachers, parents, families, friends, community members who gave feedback. Let them know you appreciate their help!

Section 5: Time to Celebrate! (Activity 2)

You absolutely deserve to celebrate this amazing accomplishment!

Your Mission: CELEBRATE with your team!

  • Ideas: Have a special meal together (get that rolex or muchomo!), have a dance party with your favourite Ugandan music, play some games, maybe just relax together and talk about your favourite moments from the season.
  • Appreciate Each Other: Thank your teammates for their hard work, support, and friendship throughout this challenging but rewarding process.

Section 6: Beyond Today (You are Technovation Alumnae!)

By completing the season, you are now officially ICT Club Alumnae – part of a global network of inspiring young women! Stay connected:

  • Join the Alumnae Mailing List: Get info about leadership opportunities, internships, scholarships, and other programs.
  • Join the LinkedIn Group: If you are 16 or older, connect with alumnae at university and in careers worldwide.
  • Become a Student Ambassador: Help recruit and inspire new teams next season!
  • Check the Alumnae Resources Page: Find more opportunities on the Technovation website.

Your journey as leaders in technology is just beginning!
