KAWA Uganda, in partnership with the Uganda Communications Commission, successfully conducted an ICT Club launch and training at Bihanga Community Secondary School in Buhweju District on Tuesday, 10th June 2025.

The training was held at Bihanga Community Secondary School and was facilitated by Kyasima Freedom, a trainer from KAWA Uganda. The school’s ICT Patron, Kembabazi Apophia, and the Headteacher, Mutatina Vicent, were part of the school leadership supporting the programme.

The training brought together 57 students and 1 teacher. The main purpose of the activity was to launch the ICT Club and equip learners with practical digital skills that can help them use technology for learning, innovation, creativity, and problem-solving.

During the session, learners were introduced to different software applications and practical ICT tools. These included MIT App Inventor, Visual Studio Code, and basic robotics. The learners participated actively in hands-on activities and were especially excited to learn how to create a simple mobile application.

The session was highly successful because students showed great interest and commitment throughout the training. After being introduced to the tools, many learners became motivated to continue practising and training themselves further using the skills they had gained.

The launch of the ICT Club at Bihanga Community Secondary School is an important step towards strengthening digital literacy and innovation among learners. It also supports the broader goal of helping schools make better use of ICT resources for practical learning.

KAWA Uganda and the Uganda Communications Commission remain committed to supporting schools in improving ICT access, digital skills, and learner participation in technology-based activities.

The training report was compiled by Kyasima Freedom.
